MPD Arrests Suspect in Northeast Robberies
The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest of a suspect involved in two robberies in Northeast.
On Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at approximately 11:47 p.m., the suspect entered an establishment in the 1600 block of New York Avenue, Northeast, indicated that he had a gun and announced a robbery. The suspect assaulted an employee and attempted to flee the scene with property but was stopped by responding officers and placed under arrest.
28-year-old Adony Gebretsadik of McLean, VA, was arrested and charged with Attempt To Commit Robbery, and Theft (Second Degree).
As a result of detectives’ investigation, Gebretsadik was linked to one additional offense:
- Robbery: On July 23, 2024, at approximately 2:48 a.m., the suspect entered an establishment, located in the 2200 block of New York Avenue, Northeast, grabbed a fire extinguisher and sprayed the victim. After spraying the victim, the suspect stole the cash register drawer before fleeing the location. CCN: 24112650
