Steve Shirley, ND-ISAC Executive Director, said “We recognize that federal agencies and industry sources produce a range of excellent cybersecurity guides. This product differs as the scenarios are designed to speak directly to leaders and managers among DIB forging houses, manufacturers, and the finishing supply chain who may think other products don’t quite understand their issues.” Shirley noted the principal authors and contributors are key participants in ND-ISAC’s SMB Working Group who live these issues on a daily basis: Allison K. Giddens and vCISO Andy Sauer (Win-Tech Inc); and Terry Hebert (Centurum); aided by contributions from Ashton Mormot (MMC Design); and Vijaya Ramamurthi (Accenture Federal Services) for insights about the macro DoD supply chain. Giddens also pointed out the scenarios may also afford DoD and Prime contracting officials some insight on a few non-obvious cybersecurity challenges that smaller companies in this space contend with.

The ND-ISAC is a non-profit, non-federal entity established and funded by its member companies to support their collective cybersecurity and resilience against all hazards through multiple lines of effort. Traditional defense contractors form approximately two-thirds of ND-ISAC’s member companies. The remaining third are companies with whom traditional defense contractors have key interdependencies but have predominant lines of business in other sectors such as Finance, Health/Pharma, Comms/IT, Chem, and Energy; plus DoD university affiliated research centers and DoD federally funded research and development centers. ND-ISAC’s small and medium-sized member companies are energetic participants across the entire range of ND-ISAC lines of effort.
