PotashCorp Helps Bring New Mammography Machine to Sussex
Sussex, New Brunswick – Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Inc. (PotashCorp) today announced a $200,000 donation toward the purchase of a new digital mammography machine for Sussex Health Centre – almost one-third of the new unit’s $650,000 cost. Stewart Brown, General Manager, PotashCorp New Brunswick, made the announcement from the Sussex Health Centre this afternoon.
“At PotashCorp, we care about the quality of life and priorities of our home communities,” said Brown. “When we learned about the need for a new mammography machine here at home, we knew we had to get involved and help bring this vital piece of technology to Sussex.”
A new digital mammography unit will enable more women to participate in screening locally, using state-of-the-art technology, without having to travel elsewhere.
“The Sussex Health Centre Foundation was pleased to be part of a project that will improve the health and wellness of women in our region,” said Anthonie de Hoog, President of the Sussex Health Centre Foundation. “We value the generous support from our community, such as PotashCorp, to assist us with this valuable project.”
“The new digital mammography unit will play a key role in the early detection and diagnosis of breast cancer,” said Donald J. Peters, President and CEO of Horizon Health Network. “We are very grateful to the Sussex Health Centre Foundation, its community partners including PotashCorp, and the Department of Health for their contributions to this important piece of equipment that supports our commitment to provide the best possible patient care and our vision of leading for a healthy tomorrow.”
