Reporting to the Tax Manager, the Tax Accountant is responsible for supporting Management in the responsibilities for the Canadian income tax compliance function and the related income tax accounting. For the compliance function, the Tax Accountant will be responsible for the completion of the Canadian income tax returns, related research on technical matters, and assisting with the statutory audits by the Canada Revenue Agency and the province. For the accounting function, the Tax Accountant would assist with the preparation of the income tax provision for budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting purposes. The Tax Accountant will be required to assist with the completion of other Canadian tax information returns, monthly filings relating to indirect taxes and withholding taxes. The Tax Accountant will be involved with a variety of special projects and analysis where required.
The successful candidate will have a professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA, or CGA) with at least six years of experience in Canadian corporate income tax compliance. A strong preference will be given to candidates who have working experience in the taxation of large corporations. Strong analytical and organizational skills are required. The successful candidate must demonstrate sound problem-solving skills and effective written and verbal communication skills. The Tax Accountant must manage time effectively and meet demanding timelines. The ability to work in both a team environment and independently is required. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, tax preparation software and Taxnet Pro would be an asset. Applicants with less experience may be considered at an intermediate level.
The successful candidate may be required to undergo a background check. All safety sensitive positions require a substance test in accordance with PotashCorp policy.
