The company has a career opportunity for qualified applicants at PotashCorp – Allan, located 55km southeast of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Reporting to the General Manager, the Safety Manager is an integral part of the site senior management team responsible for the site safety strategy including developing, monitoring, leading, and coaching a culture of safety. The Safety Manager is responsible for Safety Department personnel, safety coordination, risk assessments, safety audits, safety training, safety policies/procedures and safety reporting to ensure compliance which meets or exceeds the standards and regulations.

The Safety Manager must have at least 5 years’ experience as a mining safety leader, with hands on supervisory experience. A CSRP designation, equivalent designation, or degree, would be an asset. They must be familiar with external regulations and standards including the Sask. OH&S Act and Mines Regulations. The ideal candidate would have experience supervising several safety professionals, managing of safety systems and implementation of safety and KPI processes.

The candidate must be competent in leading effective audits, and writing / revising policies, procedures, and standards. Prior experience with incident investigation and competence in facilitating root cause analysis would be an asset. The Safety Manager must have the ability to assess the health of the entire safety program and make recommendations to management for continuous improvement.

Superior leadership, interpersonal communication, organizational and collaboration skills, with all stakeholders, is necessary.

The successful candidate may be required to undergo a background check.  All safety sensitive positions require a substance test in accordance with PotashCorp policy.
