Will FreedomFest Catapult Libertarian Presidential Candidate Gary Johnson to the Main Stage?

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA, UNITED STATES, July 11, 2016 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Political junkies and skeptics are still scratching their heads, wondering "How did this happen?  How did Donald Trump take over the Republican Party?" Trump spoke to a standing room only audience Saturday, July 11. Yes, it was 7-11 in Vegas. And it was Trump’s lucky day.  His appearance attracted major media coverage. Trump’s poll numbers rose sharply right after his appearance at FreedomFest and he dominated the Primaries thereafter. Will Gary Johnson experience a rise in the polls in the same fashion as Trump did after his appearance at FreedomFest?

FreedomFest 2016 is pleased to announce Gary Johnson, former governor of New Mexico and presidential candidate for the Libertarian Party, will address FreedomFest at 5 p.m. Pacific time, July 15, 2016, in the Celebrity Ballroom at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas.

Johnson continues to rise in the polls, first garnering 10 percent support in two national polls, a Fox News May 18 Poll and The Morning Consult survey,  and most recently besting Trump among voters under age 30, 22 percent to Trump’s 21 percent, in a Pew Research Center poll.  Many pundits consider Johnson the first legitimate third party candidate since Ross Perot

What’s happening with freedom and liberty in Vegas is not exclusive to Vegas. Why FreedomFest?

Steve Forbes, chairman of Forbes Inc., said it best, "FreedomFest is where the best ideas and policies are fleshed out.  I attend all three days and wouldn't miss it for the world." What's FreedomFest all about?  Almost everything!  Philosophy, history, science, technology, healthy living, politics, investments and more. It's a Renaissance gathering in the entertainment capital of the world.  Produced by Mark and Jo Ann Skousen, FreedomFest has evolved into the signature networking event for American innovators, entrepreneurs, business leaders and investors. Steve Forbes and John Mackey, CEO of Whole Foods Market, are co-ambassadors of FreedomFest and attend all three days.

Who's coming this year?  In addition to Gary Johnson and his VP pick Bill Weld, FreedomFest 2016’s keynote speakers include U.S. Senators Rand Paul (R-KY), who will speak on the importance of “Taking a Stand” (the title of his new book), Ben Sasse (R-NE), who is leading the #NeverTrump movement and will explain why supporting a third party candidate is not “throwing your vote away,” and Judge Andrew Napolitano who is on many voters’ dream list for Supreme Court nominee. U.S. Senate candidate Lily Williams, radio hosts Larry Elder and Michael Medved, Charles Koch's right-hand man Richard Fink, authors George Gilder and Steve Moore, are also speakers at FreedomFest.

FreedomFest is ready to mix it up on Friday with keynote speaker and former heavyweight champion of the world George Foreman, who will be joined by boxing promoter extraordinaire Don King. Attendees have the opportunity to attend a special reception with George Foreman, who sold his grill business in 1999 for a reported $138 million. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet him, have a photograph taken with him, and receive an autographed copy of his book, "Knockout Entrepreneur."

This year’s biggest debate will be “Capitalism versus Socialism:  Free to Choose or Free to Lose?” John Mackey, co-founder and co-CEO of Whole Foods Market, will take on John Roemer, Yale professor, Bernie Sanders supporter, and one of the top Marxist/socialists in the country. Find out more about the debates at at http://freedomfest.com/the-debate-ring/. Other regular features include the Anthem Film Festival and FreedomFest’s popular annual mock trial filmed live by C-SPAN with this year’s event entitled, "Global Warming on Trial.”

Before going to Cleveland, tune into FreedomFest live coverage and explore public policy debates and hot topics on all three days of the conference. This year’s slate of debates and panels features top philosophers Dinesh D’Souza and Scientific American’s Michael Shermer tackling, “The Bible: The Good Book or Bad Theology?” Also on the agenda are Trump enthusiasts Wayne Allyn Root and Dan Mangru set to debate #NeverTrump camp’s Jeffrey Tucker and Matt Welch in, “Trump Pro & Con: The YUGE Debate.”

FreedomFest is also addressing true and false narratives with respect to police use of excessive force in a panel discussion entitled, “Privacy, Patrols, and Protection: Inside Policing in America.”  But while law enforcement is still widely revered by a majority of the country, a recent Gallup poll found that the institution is seeing its lowest public support in a generation. What are the reasons for this drop in support? Can measures like the introduction of body cameras help rebuild trust? And how is law enforcement working to protect privacy and property rights?  Neill Franklin, Executive Director, Law Enforcement Against Prohibition (LEAP), Jim Bueermann, President of the Police Foundation, Russell Coleman, Attorney US Justice Action Network & Partner, Frost Brown Todd, LLC, and Kevin Williamson, of the National Review Institute, will address these issues for attendees at FreedomFest on Thursday, July 14th, at 3:20 p.m.

There is much more to experience at this year’s festival; in fact, there is nothing on earth quite like it. Oscar Goodman, former mayor of Las Vegas, calls it an "intellectual feast in Las Vegas - one of a kind!” FreedomFest will take place July 13-16, at Planet Hollywood, Las Vegas.  For more details, ticket information and full schedule, visit www.freedomfest.com.
