PotashCorp hosting day of free rides and fun on August 12 at PotashCorp Playland
Saskatoon, Saskatchewan – The Ferris wheel is turning, the water jets are spraying and kids are zooming down the double zipline – it’s all in a day’s fun at PotashCorp Playland at Kinsmen Park.
The park, which recently reopened after a two-year redevelopment, will have its official grand opening on Wednesday, August 12. To celebrate this milestone, PotashCorp is inviting everyone to come out that day to enjoy a full day of rides and entertainment, all free of charge, courtesy of PotashCorp.
“This grand opening marks the start of a wonderful new chapter in the storied history of Kinsmen Park,” says Jochen Tilk, PotashCorp President and CEO. “We know many people will come out to celebrate with us and we want it to be a special day for everyone.”
Jugglers, facepainters and Disney princesses will add to the excitement next Wednesday at PotashCorp Playland. Kids can also try their hands at carnival games – like the beanbag toss – and take home PotashCorp prizes. PotashCorp volunteers will be on hand to help out with the festivities, which will also include free soft drinks and popcorn to snack on.
Rides will be free all day, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The carousel at the park has been refurbished and the Canpotex train is chugging around a new, longer loop through the park. The big yellow Ferris wheel, which takes riders nearly 19 metres in the air, is quickly becoming a highlight.
In addition to the rides, PotashCorp Playland includes a large play area for children, with three sections:
- Sand Play - with double zipline, climbing logs and stepping stones
- Spray Park - including a long-handled pump, water-engineering table, jets and spray fountain
- Climbing Area – with pyramid tower slide, spinning Dutch disc and double saucer swing
PotashCorp provided $7.5 million of the $9.5 million cost to develop PotashCorp Playland at Kinsmen Park. The project is a natural fit for the company’s commitment to supporting its communities and enhancing their quality of life. In this case, it’s all about the kids and a fun place that is accessible to all.
As the world’s largest crop nutrient company, PotashCorp plays an integral role in global food production. The company produces the three essential nutrients required to help farmers grow healthier, more abundant crops. With global population rising and diets improving in developing countries, crop nutrients such as potash, phosphates and nitrogen offer a responsible and practical solution to help produce the food we need, from the land we have.
