Meridian 34 is part of an ongoing cultural exchange between Texas and Israel, exhibiting the unique works of a select group of Texas based artists in Tel Aviv.

TEL AVIV, ISRAEL, March 5, 2015 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Meridian 34, part of an ongoing exchange of art and culture between Texas and Israel, opens at noon on Friday, March 13, 2015 at Machon Hamayim Municipal Gallery, located at 7 Hashomer St. Givatayim, Israel.
In this collaborative project, co-curated by Doron Polak and Matt Anzak, a select group of Texas based artists exhibit in Tel Aviv as the second installment of this international creative dialogue. Meridian 34 strives to challenge the traditional conventions of Western art; and the concept of the exhibition is rooted in organic and intuitive invention. Playful in spirit, the intention of the exhibition is to branch out towards a sacred sphere of geometric abstraction and dynamic equilibrium. Like the gallery space itself, the “water institute,” the base artistic concept is fluid; and rather than utilizing traditional curating methods, Meridian 34 becomes a modular installation. In contrast to a standard gallery or salon style approach, the presentation of artwork relates as an ethereal conversation; though the work is still grounded in figurative representations, expressionism and pop culture.

In the previous selection sponsored by Alon USA, Israeli artists traveled to North Texas to collaborate with Texan artists at a multi-venue exhibition, A Tree in a Field, which took place at LuminArte Gallery in the Dallas Design District, as well as in the new corporate headquarters of Alon USA and in the offices of the Texas-Israel Chamber of Commerce. A Tree in a Field was co-curated by Doron Polak, Director of the Machon Hamayim Gallery and by Matt Anzak, Director of LuminArte Gallery. The monumental sculptural installation, “the Alon Tree” later became part of the permanent art collection at the University of North Texas, where it is prominently displayed inside UNT’s Business Leadership Building. מרידיאן 34 שואף לאתגר את התפיסות המסורתיות של האמנות המערבית; והקונספט של התערוכה מושרש ומשלב המצאה אורגנית ואינטואיטיבית עם רוח שובבה.
מטרת התערוכה היא להתקדם לעבר ספרה קדושה של מופשטות גיאומטרית ושיווי משקל דינאמי.
כמו גלריה ״מכון המים״, כך גם הקונספט האומנותי הבסיסי נזיל וזורם - ובמקום לנצל שיטות אוצרות מסורתיות, מרידיאן 34 הופך למייצב מודולרי. בניגוד לגלריה סטנדרטית או גישה של סלון אמנותי, הצגת העבודות
מתייחסת לשיחה שמיימית, למרות שהעבודות עדיין מושרשות ביצוג פיגורטיבי, אקספרסיוניזם ותרבות הפופ.

בפרויקט הקודם שנתמך על ידי חברת אלון ארה״ב, אמנים ישראלים נסעו לצפון טקסס כדי לשתף פעולה עם אמנים מקומיים בתערוכת רבת מוקדיםתחת הכותרת ״עץ השדה״,
שהתקיימה בגלרייה "לומינארטה" באזור העיצוב של דאלאס, גם במשרדים החדשים של חברת אלון ארה״ב ובלשכת המסחר טקסס-ישראל.
הפסל הענק ״עץ האלון״ שהוקם על ידי האמנים, הפך לחלק מאוסף האמנות הקבוע של אוניברסיטת צפון טקסס, שם הוא מוצג בבניין המנהיגות המסחרית.
