he West Volusia Beacon newspaper was founded in 1992 by three DeLand-area residents who wanted to assure that the communities of DeLand, Lake Helen, Orange City, DeBary, Deltona, Pierson, DeLeon Springs and Seville would have a locally owned newspaper.The Beacon reports local news from these communities and the surrounding environs.Our mission is to unite community members with shared information, to empower them through knowledge, and to help local businesses succeed by offering affordable marketing solutions.
