Louisville, Kentucky – Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man whose body was found over the weekend at the Kentucky Derby. As reported by Good Morning America, the body of Adan Fabian Perez, 48, of Guatemala was found in a barn early Sunday morning, and police now suspect foul play in his death. Perez had worked for a horse trainer since 2008.
Louisville Metro Police spokewoman Alicia Smiley is quoted in the report as stating to ABCNews.com, “We found evidence of injuries that lead us to believe he was involved in an altercation and that foul play was involved.”
Smiley is further quoted as stating, “We are still trying to determine what led to the incident. At this point we don't have anything pointing to the fact that this had any association with Churchill Downs or the Derby itself.”
Autopsy results are still pending.
