UAW, area organizations gather April 14 to celebrate women
DETROIT -- The UAW Women's Department, along with several Michigan and Detroit-area community organizations and leaders, will sponsor the second annual "Women Creating Caring Communities All Over the World" to celebrate women and community collaboration on April 14.
The event brings labor and community activists together to create unity and a common vision to facilitate neighborhood work and projects.
Guest speakers include: UAW Vice President Cindy Estrada, philosopher-activist Grace Lee Boggs and ACLU Communications Director Rana Elmir.
Afternoon workshops will focus on enhancing participants' ability to create communities of compassion, and various organizations will be available to answer questions from potential volunteers to assist in building our communities.
All are invited to attend this free celebration and learning experience. Doors open at 9 a.m., and the program begins at 10 a.m. Lunch is provided. Here are more details:
