Kyocera Corporation (President: Tetsuo Kuba) announced that its subsidiary dedicated to domestic sales in China, Kyocera (Tianjin) Sales & Trading Corporation (herein “KTST”), established a new technical center for industrial cutting tools in Shanghai on March 20, where an opening ceremony was held on the same day with over 50 company executives and members of sales representatives in attendance. The new facility becomes Kyocera’s second industrial cutting tool technical center in China.

“This 800-square-meter, state of the art facility will now begin to provide technical support for our customers,” stated Yuji Goto, President and Director of KTST. “We will hold technical seminars, distribute technical information about industrial-use cutting technology and new products, and offer support for launches of new product lines — thus providing total tooling solutions. In other words, we hope to provide value-added assistance to the manufacturing sector.”

The new technical center is located in the center of Shanghai, and houses a research area and testing room with NC lathes, machining centers and measuring machines. The new facility will make it possible for Kyocera to provide an even higher level of service to its customers in a timely and easily accessible manner.

Since 1996, Kyocera’s cutting tool business has been manufacturing industrial cutting tools in China’s Guangdong Province to better meet the needs of the continuously growing market. Kyocera’s wide-ranging cutting tools are used in manufacturing industries including automotive, aviation, shipbuilding and construction. In 2004, the company established a technical center for industrial cutting tools in Guangdong to provide an enhanced level of service to its customers. Including the new Shanghai Technical Center, Kyocera currently operates 11 cutting tool technical centers in eight countries across the world.
