Bachmann Announces Congressional Art Competition for Students
Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (MN-06) announced today that her office is seeking submissions for the annual Congressional Art Competition from high school students living in Minnesota’s Sixth Congressional District.
High school students will have the opportunity to submit their original artwork for review by a panel of artists. The winning piece from each Congressional district goes on display in the Cannon House Office Building tunnel that leads to the U.S. Capitol. The winning artist from the Sixth District will receive two round trip tickets from Southwest Airlines to the Washington, D.C. area to attend the reception which opens the display. In addition, the winning artist may be eligible to receive an artistic scholarship to the Savannah College of Art and Design in Atlanta, Georgia.
Bachmann said, “Each year I look forward to seeing the extraordinary art work submitted by students in the Sixth District. Constituents, staff and members of Congress have the opportunity to walk past the winning art pieces every day, reminding us of the tremendous talent possessed by students across the nation.”
The competition is open to all tenth through twelfth grade students. Students interested in submitting their pieces of art should review the guidelines available at Bachmann.house.gov. All artwork must be received in Bachmann’s Woodbury or Waite Park district offices by April 25, 2012. All entries will be on display in the Woodbury district office through May 4, 2012.
