LOS ANGELES, January 31, 2025 /BUSINESS WIRE/ --

AltaSea at the Port of Los Angeles, the nation’s leading hub for the blue economy, is pleased to announce that Jenny Krusoe, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, has joined World Ocean Council’s (WOC) board of directors, effective January 22, 2025.

Krusoe brings extensive experience in ocean sustainability, innovation, and economic development to WOC. Krusoe is one of AltaSea’s founders and has been a member of AltaSea’s leadership team since the innovative ocean sustainability and marine science campus was first conceived. Her work at AltaSea has helped establish it as the global epicenter for ocean technology, research, and education. In 2024, Krusoe was recognized on The Ocean Opportunity Lab’s Global 500 List, a collection of the top 500 female founders in the ocean & energy industries.

The World Ocean Council is a global blue economy industry alliance organization, bringing together ocean industries to catalyze global leadership to address shared marine environmental issues in support of improved business operations and corporate ocean responsibility. WOC brings together the diverse ocean business community to collaborate on a shared vision of a healthy and productive ocean, as well as its sustainable use and stewardship by responsible businesses.

“Jenny’s expertise, vision, and passion for the ocean make her an important addition to our board,” said Donna Lanzatta, Board Chair of WOC. “Her leadership at AltaSea and her dedication to advancing the blue economy will strengthen our efforts to protect and sustainably manage ocean resources worldwide. Her perspective in helping build the world’s largest blue economy hub at one of America’s busiest ports will be invaluable as we work to foster collaboration and innovation across the global ocean business community.”

Krusoe joins ocean experts from Germany, Spain, Australia, Singapore, England, Canada, and the Netherlands on WOC’s board of directors.

A California native born and raised on the shores of the San Francisco Bay, Krusoe has earned a national reputation as a nonprofit executive with expertise in public-private partnerships and financially sustainable strategic planning. She has raised hundreds of millions of dollars through foundation, corporate, and government grants for both environmental and ocean-focused institutions, art organizations, and human-service agencies.

“It’s an honor to join the World Ocean Council’s board and work alongside such an accomplished group of leaders,” said Krusoe. “The challenges facing our oceans require bold, collaborative action, and I’m eager to contribute to WOC’s efforts to drive sustainable solutions that benefit both the environment and the economy.”
