Silver Lake Next in Line to Join Metronet’s Fiber-Optic Network

EVANSVILLE, Ind., January 28, 2025 /BUSINESS WIRE/ --

Metronet, PCMag’s fastest major ISP for two years in a row, announced today its plans to fully fund an investment to bring 100% fiber-optic internet to Silver Lake, Ohio. This privately funded investment will connect households and businesses to ultra-high-speed internet, offering speeds of up to five gigabits per second for residents and ten gigabits per second for businesses.

“We are excited to gain access to another internet option, creating more competition and further enhancing our Village,” said Silver Lake Mayor Therese Dunphy. “Our partnership with Metronet will continue to boost Silver Lake and the offerings that make our community a great place to learn, work, and live.”

Metronet’s construction plan is expected to break ground early this year with the first customers expected to gain service by spring.

“We are committed to delivering on our mission of bringing the fastest fiber-optic internet available to communities throughout the country,” said Ben Ruzick, a Metronet vice president. “Our multigigabit network is built to make your internet connection stronger and faster through resilient infrastructure. That’s why we can’t wait for Silver Lake to experience our award-winning speeds. We are grateful for our partnership with Mayor Dunphy and the Village Council as we prepare to bring 100% fiber-optic internet to more Ohioans.”

Metronet’s 100% fiber-optic technology will equip Silver Lake residents and businesses with some of the fastest multigigabit speeds in the nation. With symmetrical upload and download speeds, users will enjoy a seamless online experience, improving video conferencing, streaming, gaming, and more.

As construction progresses, Silver Lake residents will see Metronet trucks in the area. Residents will receive communication by mail about construction activity in their neighborhood 30 days prior to the start date. Additional notifications, such as yard signs, will also inform residents of upcoming construction. Metronet crews will be identifiable by ID tags and branded vehicles.

Metronet plans to hire local market management positions, sales and customer service professionals and service technicians to support the Silver Lake area. Those interested in joining the Metronet team can visit metronet.com/careers to search available positions and to submit applications.
