Weekly Traffic Update: December 6, 2024

UPDATE: N. 2nd/3rd St. pavement markings to occur over weekend

Beginning Saturday, December 7, City contractors will work through the weekend to complete pavement markings and restriping work.

On Monday, December 9, the crews will begin work on the final completion items for the project. When these final items are completed, they will require additional time to cure and set. During this time, City contractors will temporarily close the outside lanes at intermittent locations along the area.

The City anticipates that all traffic control will be removed and the road fully reopened on Monday, December 16, pending weather or other delays.

Introducing Vision Zero Transportation Safety Action Plan Updates

In 2024 the City of Lawrence received funding to design a Vision Zero Transportation Safety Action Plan.

Vision Zero is a nationwide initiative to eliminate traffic related fatalities and serious injuries through education and enforcement programs as well as built environment projects. As we continue our work on this plan, updates about specific projects, their impacts, and other information will be included in these weekly traffic updates.

Reaching zero fatalities and serious injuries will be an ongoing effort requiring support from all road users and we look forward to bringing you on this journey.

You can find more information on the project webpage here, https://lawrenceks.org/mpo/vision-zero/
