Legendary musician Vangelis composes Arab Awakening music for Al Jazeera
Jan 20, 2012 (PRN): The Oscar-winning composer of movie scores such as Chariots of Fire and Blade Runner has devised a tune for the Arab Awakening.
The work by Vangelis is unveiled in an exclusive interview with Al Jazeera to be aired this Saturday. It is the first opportunity the public will have had for decades to see the world’s most celebrated composer of electronic music speak about his work.
The normally recluse artist was keen to talk about the role of music in today’s chaotic world. He said during the philosophical interview with Al Jazeera’s Tony Harris:
“We need to invest in beauty. Beauty is harmony which comes from chaos. But we invest in chaos. And why do we invest in chaos? Because chaos is more profitable than investing in peace.”
Talk to Al Jazeera with Vangelis will transmit at the following times GMT: Saturday 0430; Sunday: 0830, 1930; Monday 1430. It will also be available online at www.aljazeera.com
The piece of music Vangelis composed is set to some of the most memorable images of the last year and can be viewed here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PlCmeUgYZVs
