Bayanihan continues as Bong Go provides support to poor communities in Sarangani, Davao Occidental

In his firm commitment to uplift the lives of marginalized Filipinos, Senator Christopher "Bong" Go extended assistance to vulnerable communities in Sarangani town in Davao Occidental on Tuesday, November 26.

The senator's Malasakit Team spearheaded a relief operation at the Sarangani Municipal Gymnasium, where 1,013 indigents were provided with aid, such as shirts, snacks, and vitamins. Selected individuals were given mobile phones, shoes, and watches.

In partnership with Mayor Adelan De Arce, financial aid from the government was also distributed, empowering the residents to address their pressing concerns.

In a video message, Go underscored the significance of "bayanihan" in addressing the hardships faced by Filipinos, especially during these trying times. He reaffirmed his commitment to serving those in need, particularly those in rural and underserved communities.

As the Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Health, Go urged those with medical concerns to seek assistance from the nearest Malasakit Center, such as the one in Davao Occidental General Hospital in Malita and the nearby Davao del Sur Provincial Hospital in Digos City. The center consolidates services from government agencies to simplify the process for indigent patients needing medical support.

Go, a health reforms crusader, is the principal author and sponsor of Republic Act No. 11463, or the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019, which institutionalized the Malasakit Centers program. The Department of Health reports that the Malasakit Center program has already provided aid to more than 15 million Filipinos.

Through his ongoing efforts, Senator Go remains a steadfast ally of the Filipino people, bringing essential services closer to those who need them the most and advocating for inclusive development in every corner of the country.
