Maine Veterans Project, local towing business helps veteran get a new ride (WABI)

HERMON, Maine (WABI) - A Maine veteran got a new set of wheels for no charge.

The Maine Veterans Project helps veterans with all sorts of resources from food to heating fuel.

Thanks to a partnership with Bouchard and Sons Towing, they were able to help a veteran from Unity get some money for his ailing vehicle and gave him a newer used car.

“It’s been, it’s been a hard year, and this makes up for it all. Doc is an angel in disguise. He takes care of so many of us in the course of a year... roof on the house, cars, other events. And now, Doc’s got this and thanks to Bouchard’s. It’s just...it’s too much for words,” said Air Force Veteran, James Bishop, after signing for his new car.

James is referring to Doc Goodwin, the president of the Maine Veterans Project.

MVP says they still have a long list of veterans in need of cars.

They take donations of cars needing some to no repairs.
