Manchin Announces $4.7 Million For Mercer County Head Start Program
Charleston, WV – Today, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (I-WV), member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced $4,737,497 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for the Community Action of South East West Virginia’s Head Start Program in Mercer County. Head Start supports educational growth from birth to age 5 through services that provide early learning and emotional development, health and safety, and family well-being.
“West Virginia’s children are the future of our state and we must invest in them,” said Senator Manchin. “I’m grateful HHS is investing more than $4.7 million in the Community Action of South Eastern West Virginia’s Head Start Program in Bluefield. No matter their background, every child in the Mountain State deserves access to a quality education. As a strong supporter of the Head Start program and a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue advocating for funding to support early education throughout the state.”
