Weare, NH – Just after 2:00 p.m. on June 29, 2024, New Hampshire Fish and Game was contacted by New Hampshire State Police Dispatch advising of an ATV crash in the town of Weare. The crash had occurred within the All Seasons Campground. Weare Police and Weare Ambulance, New Boston Police and New Boston Ambulance, and Henniker Ambulance, along with a Conservation Officer responded to the crash.
While operating on the campground roads, 55-year-old Thomas Silva of Derry, New Hampshire, along with a minor passenger, approached a road junction. The minor grasped the throttle, accelerating the ATV at a high rate of speed. Silva attempted to correct this but lost control of the ATV, rolling the machine. Silva suffered minor injuries while the minor suffered serious injuries. Henniker Ambulance then transported the minor to Concord Hospital for care of their injuries.
At the time of the crash, the minor and operator were not wearing helmets or other protective gear. Alcohol is also being investigated as a possible contributing factor to the crash. New Hampshire Fish and Game reminds OHRV riders that individuals under the age of 18 must wear a helmet.
