Qatar’s Minister of State for International Cooperation visited Sweden
SWEDEN, May 28 - Like Sweden, Qatar is a major donor of development assistance. Discussions during the visit addressed how Sweden and Qatar can cooperate in the area of development assistance, including to mobilise more humanitarian assistance from international donors.
In addition to dialogue on development assistance policy issues, recent developments in the Middle East, the war in Gaza and the situation in Afghanistan were also discussed.
Qatar provides humanitarian support to Ukraine and recently mediated the return of Ukrainian children that Russia deported during its full-scale invasion. Sweden welcomes these efforts. There is currently a major need for international donors to support Ukraine’s reconstruction, where both Sweden and Qatar can play important roles.
