The Office of Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (MN-06) was proud to host two cyber stalking seminars yesterday in both Anoka and St. Cloud, Minnesota. The seminars, led by Brooklyn Park Fire Chief and virtualvigilence.com founder, Ken Prillaman, and the FBI’s Infragard, were designed to provide attendees with practical ways to both detect online predators and keep children safe as the navigate the Internet. Following the seminars, Bachmann expressed her thankfulness to constituents learning about this issue:

“As a mother of five, I know that Internet use by teens continues to rise. Unfortunately, many children are victimized by sexual predators seeking to track down their next innocent victims through the Internet. In fact, according to the Crimes Against Children Research Center, one in five U.S. teenagers who regularly logs on to the Internet say they have received an unwanted sexual solicitation while online. That is why I am so thankful to my constituents who are taking the time to learn about cyber stalking. It is my hope that the information provided by Chief Prillaman and the FBI’s Infragard will help prevent children from becoming victims of the dangerous individuals that can surround them in the online world.”

The first information session was held Dec. 14 at the St. Cloud Public Library in St. Cloud from 2:00-4:00 p.m. The second session was also held Dec. 14 from 6:45- 8:45 p.m. at the Anoka High School in Anoka.
