Kathryn Ann Clifton-Hunter: She Carved Her Own Path

smiling woman with volumous brown hair and kind eyes

Kathryn Ann Clifton-Hunter
November 28, 1964 – March 25, 2024

Kathryn Ann Clifton-Hunter was born November 28, 1964 in West Covina California. Her parents were Willie Ray Clifton and Kathleen Timm-Pearl. Kathryn peacefully passed away Monday March 25, 2024 at the age of 59. Kathryn was an organ donor so she will continue to live on not only in our hearts, but through the lives of others she was able to help with her donated tissue and organs.

Kathryn grew up in blended families and shared home time between Mom and Dad. Dad ( Willie ) remarried a woman named Jane who had two sons, Allen Kick, and Jason Thornton. Mom ( Kathy ) remarried Chuck Pearl and they had three children Charles, Suzzanna, and Teresa. In addition to the children from their first marriage together Scott, Cindy, James, Kimberly,  as well as Tim from Willie‘s previous marriage. Needless to say “Katcha“ as we like to like to call her grew up in a fun and sometimes wild family environment, and we all got along (for the most part) and would have it no other way.

As a child, Katcha loved to swim in her parents pools and go to the local pool, “The Plunge” and dive off the high dive to show how proficient she was at diving and swimming. She would go to a roller rink in Southern California and skate as fast as she could, dancing and skating backwards to show off her cool moves on disco night. She would also show “how low she could go” at the limbo, often winning. She was very quick and nimble and could climb trees with us younger kids, picking avocados from the trees across from her fathers home so we sell them for .10$ a piece on the corner of Covina Boulevard. This would make us money so we could go to the drive in as a family, or buy treats from the ice-cream truck as it would come by on a hot summers day.  She loved going to the local fairs, riding on the fast rides and seeing how many she could get on for free, by flirting with the attendants because her beauty and personality was so stricking. Katcha loved camping at Big Bear, going fishing at Pudding Stone Lake to see who could catch the most fish, and having large family picnics (Mom’s fried chicken and potatoes salad was the best)! As she got older she loved going to the Kinetic sculpture races and watching the events, especially when they would cross the bay. She loved to go crabbing and bring back her catch of the day  –  fresh crab to cook up and eat that evening! She was extremely vicarious and full of life, always wanting to be the center of attention with a little bit of mischief in her eyes. She always wanted to be in the know and curious about how things worked.  Katcha was highly intelligent and had the IQ of a college graduate when tested in middle school, however school did not challenge her, she had to carve her own path. It was her prerogative, she had to do what she wanted to do. 🎶 *song lyrics by Bobby Brown My Prerogative 🎶

Katcha married Michael Green in Azusa, CA and they had two beautiful daughters, Keishawna and Leah. Not long into their daughter’s youth, Michael was killed and Katcha had to become the sole provider for herself and her children. She decided to move to Northern California to be closer to her mom for emotional and familial support. When in Humboldt, she worked part time jobs supporting her family until meeting her second husband Anthony Hunter, and they had a beautiful son together named Brandon. Katcha and Anthony remained in Humboldt only a few more years until work relocated them to the Sacramento area. This is where Katcha worked as a property manager. After retiring due medical disabilities Katcha spent her time between Humboldt and Sacramento counties. She helped in raising her grand babies-as she lovingly referred to them. Katcha loved deeply, passionately and would share her story to who ever would listen. She had a strong faith in God, and family! She leaves behind a strong legacy in her children, Keishawna, Leah, Brandon and her beautiful Grandchildren, Trayvonne, Heavenly, Lacey, Precious,  Hassan, Yokell, Zeleah, Treasure, and her Great-Granddaughter Blessing.

She is preceded in death by her Parents Kathleen Timm-Pearl. Willie Ray Clifton, Jane Clifton, Grandparents Harold and Eleanor Timm, Ed and Lilly Dell Clifton, Siblings Cindy Clifton, Kimberly Clifton, Jason Thornton, Sister-in-Law Veronica “Jo” Cox-Clifton, Ex- Husband Michael Green, Nephew Buddy Fife, Aunt Ziggy, Brother In-Laws Ventura Hunter, & Brian Matthews. She is survived by her loving children, grandchildren, siblings, many nieces and nephews, family and friends who will forever keep her loving memory alive with good memories imprinted on their hearts. A private celebration of life will be held in her honor.
