CHICAGO – The American Association of School Librarians (AASL) seeks statements from school districts, universities, education service centers or others interested in hosting a satellite site of the AASL 2012 Fall Forum. If interested, parties should submit a one-page Statement of Interest by Dec. 20, 2011 to Melissa Jacobsen.

Happening simultaneously to the on-site institute, a satellite site would host and facilitate the institute. Sites will view a live broadcast of the AASL Fall Forum and communicate via chat with the on-site attendees. A site project manager would handle logistical details and work closely with AASL staff to ensure a successful institute. In addition, the satellite site will facilitate the group work of attendees during breakout discussion. Based on interest, two to three sites may be chosen to support a hybrid of the AASL 2012 Fall Forum.

Interested sites are asked to submit a one-page Statement of Interest. From these statements, two to three sites may be chosen to host and facilitate a satellite site. Sites must be able to attract and host 50 or more attendees, provide a site project manager to work directly with the AASL office, be in Region 1, 2, 3, 6, 7 or 9, based on AASL’s Affiliate Region List and meet the technical requirements necessary to hosting a webcast of the AASL Fall Forum. The AASL Fall Forum is a multi-day national institute held during non-AASL national conference years. A more intimate event, the institute focuses on one topic of importance to the profession.  Transliteracy and the School Library Program will be held Oct. 12-13, 2012, in Greenville, S.C.   More information on programming can be found at www.ala.org/aasl/fallforum.
