City of Seminole Receives Block Grant Award

The Oklahoma Department of Commerce/Community Development announced that the City of Seminole is the recipient of a Community Development Block Grant – Economic Development Infrastructure Financing (CDBG-EDIF) award totaling $423,314.

The award will be used for the construction of parking and access road infrastructure improvements to support the expansion of Latham Pool Products, Inc. This award allocation will help support Oklahoma’s continuing commitment to job creation and diversification of Oklahoma’s economic base. The Oklahoma Department of Commerce manages the federally funded CDBG-EDIF program in the State. Additional funding for the project will be provided by the company.

The CDBG-EDIF program helps eligible cities, towns, and counties with the financing of infrastructure improvements for new companies or industries locating to Oklahoma or expanding Oklahoma businesses.  The purpose of the program is to stimulate long-term job creation and investment.

Latham Group, Inc. is a publicly traded company and is the largest designer, manufacturer, and marketer of in-ground residential swimming pools in North America, Australia, and New Zealand. Latham has a coast-to-coast operations platform consisting of over 2,000 employees across over 30 locations. With an operating history that spans over 65 years. The company offers the industry’s broadest portfolio of pools and related products, including in-ground swimming pools, pool liners and pool covers. Latham holds the #1 market position in North America in every product category in which it competes.

The City of Seminole has requested $423,314 in CDBG-EDIF funds to provide for the parking and access road infrastructure. This request is necessary to support a surge in demand for their products causing an increase for additional jobs and truck access for adequate space and to safely expand and run the company operations seamlessly. The CDBG funds requested will allow the company to create 15 new permanent jobs with 14 of those jobs to be made available to low and moderate income persons.
