Visit to a lemon growing greenhouse in "Somon-Bokhtar" production cooperative in Kushoniyon district of Khatlon Province

TAJIKISTAN, December 14 - On December 14, the Founder of Peace and National Unity - Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, as part of a working trip to a number of cities and districts of Khatlon Province, visited a greenhouse for growing lemons in "Somon-Bokhtar" production cooperative in Kushoniyon district.

It was reported that the production cooperative "Somon-Bokhtar" was established on an area of 50 hectares, 3 ha of garden area, 30 ha of cotton, 8 ha of cereals, 1.5 ha of potatoes and 3.9 ha of land for fodder cultivation.

10 greenhouses have been built in this farm, headed by Jobirzoda Mahmadtolib. The construction of the greenhouse started in 2012 and was commissioned in 2016 by the President of the country during a working visit.

After the construction of the greenhouse, 6 local residents were provided with permanent jobs.

The production of lemons on the farm in 2022 reached 40 tons, and this year, its collection will reach 50 tons. Produced goods are sold within the country and also exported to the Russian Federation.

The farm's income from the greenhouse is 300-400 thousand somoni. The founder of the farm plans to build permanent greenhouses on 3 ha, including planting lemons on 2 ha and early vegetables on 1 ha.

It should be said that there are citrus greenhouses in an area of 48 ha in Kushoniyon district, of which 39.6 ha are productive.

In 2022 - 263.6 tonnes of lemons were produced, of which 133 tonnes were produced in the public sector from 9 ha and 130.6 tonnes were produced from 30.6 ha of the population. The yield of lemons per hectare is 66.5 centners.
