Innovators in Value-Based Cancer Care Come Together to Share Ideas and Create New Connections

WASHINGTON, D.C., UNITED STATES, October 24, 2023 /EINPresswire.com/ -- On October 23-24, the Community Oncology Alliance hosted its annual Payer Exchange Summit on Oncology Payment Reform. Held in Reston, VA, nearly 300 attendees representing practices, employers, payers, regulators, and others discussed the future of cancer care, including the Enhancing Oncology Model, the recent flurry of PBM bills, the Oncology Medical Home, and the benefits of joining a clinically integrated network.

The COA Payer Exchange Summit is a unique, invitation-only gathering of key players in the oncology payment reform space. All attendees are involved in active reform projects or are interested in bringing a project to their space. The Summit is designed to encourage conversations between these parties, sowing the seeds for future value-based care reform.

- Coverage of the Summit will be available at PayerExchangeSummit.com soon.

This year’s agenda covered some of community oncology’s most pressing issues, including the start of the Enhancing Oncology Model and stakeholder experiences with it so far. Attendees also learned about Washington’s growing appetite for PBM reform, reflected in the mass of bipartisan activity investigating PBM transparency and abuses, and the growth of the Oncology Medical Home as a guidebook for those entering the value-based care world.

Prior to the Summit, 20 COA members from 12 states attended the Legislative Leadership Program State Advocacy Retreat (LLP). The program provided graduates with the knowledge to successfully interact with policymakers at the state level, giving them insight into the lawmaking process and the typical structure of state-level policy structures. Graduates will take the lessons learned from the LLP back to their home states to advocate for policies that increase access to high-quality, local cancer care.

Presentations and recordings of the Payer Exchange Summit will be available shortly at www.payerexchangesummit.com.
