The United States Hispanic Business Council (USHBC) issues a statement on National Small Business Week
WASHINGTON, DC, UNITED STATES, May 3, 2023/EINPresswire.com/ -- The United States Hispanic Business Council (USHBC) is celebrating National Small Business Week by honoring our small business community’s hard work and dedication. As the engine of our economy, the 33 million small businesses in our nation create more than two-thirds of new jobs and account for roughly half of our overall economic activity. Paramount to the success of our small businesses is our Hispanic community, creating new ventures at a rate of 3 to 1 when compared to the general market and contributing over $800 billion to the American economy every year.
While economic challenges persist, the hard work and entrepreneurial spirit of the small business and Hispanic communities are a source of optimism. As we continue on our road to recovery, the USHBC calls for a focus on bolstering domestic energy, investing in American technology, fostering economic immigration, and improving access to contracting and capital.
“It’s no secret that the small business community has borne the brunt of numerous economic challenges the past year - record-high interest and inflation rates, rising energy costs, broken supply chains, and labor shortages. However, as the hardest-working and most entrepreneurial community in America, our Hispanic small businesses keep moving forward,” said Don Salazar, Chairman of the USHBC.
“On this National Small Business Week we not only recognize the economic contributions of our entrepreneurs, but we call upon our lawmakers to give us a seat at the table when crafting key policies that affect our bottom line. After all, a burgeoning small business community makes for a prosperous economy,” said Javier Palomarez, President and CEO of the USHBC.
