Alexei Overchuk's working visit to Turkmenistan

RUSSIA, February 18 - On 16-17 February, a Russian delegation led by Alexei Overchuk visited Turkmenistan (Ashgabat). During the visit, the Russian Deputy Prime Minister was received by Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, with whom he discussed the current state of and prospects for bilateral trade and economic partnership between the Russian Federation and Turkmenistan.

During the talks, they emphasised the constructive nature of the bilateral and multilateral Russian-Turkmen dialogue. Trade and the economy, energy, transport, industry and other sectors were named among the most promising areas of cooperation. The sides noted that Russia has been one of the main trade and economic partners of Turkmenistan for many years.

During the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister briefed the Turkmen President on the steps taken by the Russian side to put into practice the agreements reached during the working visit by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin to Turkmenistan in January 2023, when the sides identified key areas for further cooperation, signed a set of bilateral documents and held a joint Russian-Turkmen business forum to deepen the trade and economic cooperation.

During his visit, the Deputy Prime Minister was received by Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the People's Council of the National Assembly of Turkmenistan. The sides discussed promising areas for further development of bilateral cooperation between the Russian Federation and Turkmenistan. The parties underscored the progressive dynamics of the interstate dialogue, which is of a strategic and multifaceted nature. They confirmed interest in the further development of their partnership in industry, energy and transport. Particular attention was paid to the promotion of cooperation in health, education and culture.

The parties noted readiness to continue constructive dialogue based on trust, mutual respect and consideration of each other's interests in all areas of interaction between their countries.
