Hannibal Man Killed in Industrial Accident at Scriba Aluminum Plant

Scriba, NY — An industrial accident left a Hannibal man dead on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at an aluminum rolling plant. The fatal workplace accident occurred at Novelis Inc., located at 448 County Route 1A at 6 p.m., reported Syracuse.com.

According to the Oswego County Undersheriff, Edward M. Carvey, 46, was operating machinery at the plant when the equipment somehow injured him.

Responding emergency crews rushed Carvey to an Oswego Hospital, where he was then transferred to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse for further medical treatment.

That afternoon, Carvey succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by attending medical professionals.

Details surrounding the industrial accident are limited at this time.

The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) are investigating the fatal workplace accident.
