Denver Federal Center to Expand Solar Resources to Nearly 7 Megawatts

The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) is nearing completion of a nearly 7-megawatt (MW) solar PV project at its Denver Federal Center (DFC) campus. Combined with an existing 1.2-MW installation, the project will provide more than 15 percent of the DFC's annual electricity demand.

The two-phase project began in 2009, with 3.2 MW of solar power brought online in December 2010. The final phase includes installation of 14,352 245-watt U.S. manufactured PV panels, generating an additional 3.5 MW, exceeding the original final phase schedule of 3.45 MW. The 3.5-MW addition is expected to be online by the end of 2011.
