Library of Congress Seeks Applicants For Kluge Fellowships

The John W. Kluge Center at the Library of Congress is accepting applications for Kluge Fellowships that offer post-doctoral scholars an opportunity to conduct humanistic and social-science research in the Library’s large and varied collections.

The fellowships are awarded for periods of up to 11 months at a stipend of $4,200 per month. Applications must be postmarked by Friday, July 15, 2011. For more information and an application form, visit www.loc.gov/kluge/.

The fellowships are open to scholars worldwide with a Ph.D. or other terminal advanced degree conferred within seven years of the July 15 deadline.

Research conducted at the Kluge Center must make substantial use of the Library’s collections. Interdisciplinary, cross-cultural or multilingual research is particularly welcome. Among the collections available to researchers are the world’s largest law library and outstanding multilingual collections of books and periodicals. Extensive special collections of manuscripts, maps, music, films, recorded sound, prints and photographs are also available. The Kluge Center was established in 2000 through an endowment of $60 million from John W. Kluge. Located in the Thomas Jefferson Building of the Library of Congress, the center was created to bring together the world’s best thinkers to stimulate and energize one another, to distill wisdom from the Library’s rich resources and to interact with policymakers in Washington.
