June Garcia will lead PLA fundraising management workshop in Seattle this May
CHICAGO - The Public Library Association (PLA), in partnership with the Washington State Library, is offering a Fundraising Management Workshop taught by June Garcia, May 24–25, 2011 at the Seattle (Wash.) Public Library.
This interactive workshop will provide the skills needed not only to develop an effective fundraising plan, but also implement it successfully. Throughout the two-day program, participants will work through an engaging and expert curriculum (PDF) that includes the following sections: Why Fundraise?; What Experience Do You Have?; Who Do You Need on Your Team?; What Are Your Fundraising Options?; What's the Plan?;and How Do You Go from Planning to Doing?
With more than 38 years as a public librarian, instructor June Garcia is always a favorite among workshop attendees. In addition to co-authoring several publications with Sandra Nelson, Ms. Garcia has been a frequent speaker at library conferences on a variety of topics relating to public library planning, productivity, measurement and evaluation, facilities planning and fundraising.
Cost to attend the Fundraising Management Workshop is $250 (PLA Members and partners), $300 (ALA Members) and $400 (Nonmembers). Fee includes all training materials, breaks, and lunch on both days of the workshop. Register today.
This workshop is a Certified Public Library Administrator (CPLA) course; however you do not need to be enrolled in the CPLA certification program to attend. CPLA certification is a voluntary program designed for post-MLS public librarians with at least three years of supervisory experience and includes a series of courses, each focused on one aspect of library management.
