With reference to company announcement No. 40/2010 of 26 October 2010 and News release No. 3/2011 of 28 January 2011, today, Vestas starts the implementation of Shared Service Centres within Finance, People & Culture, Logistic & Planning and IT with establishment of regional locations in Portland, USA, Chennai, India, and Randers, Denmark. Reorganising into Shared Service Centres is one of several optimisation exercises that Vestas has initiated to reduce costs.

“The layoffs take place in stages to allow time for systems, processes and tools to be in place to ensure smooth business operation. With the implementation of the Shared Service Centres, Vestas will finalise the layoff of the 3,000 colleagues initially announced in October 2010,” says Roald Steen Jakobsen, President of Vestas People & Culture.

The majority of the layoffs are expected to be finalised by the end of April 2011 depending on local legal requirements.
