Stage Door Furniture To Go Out of Business and Close

Pawling , NY - March 21, 2011 -- After almost a half century of continuous operation, Stage Door Furniture in Pawling New York announced they are going out of business. When all inventory on hand is sold they will close their doors forever. The Sale will start Thursday March 24, 2011 and continue until all merchandise is sold.

Stage Door Furniture was started in April of 1962 in a 3 story barn in Pawling NY. The barn was built by JC Penney in 1917 where he raised white Arabian horses and black Angus cattle. Later it became a summer Stock theatre called The Starlight Theatre which is where the name Stage Door Furniture was derived. During the 40's and 50's many famous stars of the day performed here. The barn burned down in 1987. The existing store was built in 1977. After the fire an additional 30,000 square foot showroom was added and a 10,000 square foot warehouse.

Stage Door has supported three generations of family and has built its reputation for quality and service one customer at a time. Customers from 2nd and 3rd generations remember the furniture they purchased over the past 50 years that is still in their home. Stage Door has always been a warm and friendly buying experience with family ownership offering fresh baked cookies and personal attention to every customer. The Ackerman family said this tradition would continue while they conducted an event to say "Thanks for the Memories".

The decision to close the store was made by Jed Ackerman, and his family. In announcing the store closing, Ackerman stated, "The decision to close the store has been a difficult one. My family has been in the furniture business since the early 1960's. We are a true New York family business. For years, we have offered our friends and neighbors the best quality products at outstanding value pricing. This sale and our special pricing will be our way of saying Thanks for the Years of Support to all of our loyal and regular customers from the entire Ackerman family."

Jed Ackerman continued his comments about the Going Out of Business Sale by saying: "Stage Door Furniture is a part of the history in New York and we have loved being a part of so many families' lives and homes. But we have concluded that given the current economic conditions we must move on to pursue other interests. While during this limited time Store Closing Event we can still offer our customers the outstanding quality merchandise and values we're known for, we will be going out of the traditional furniture business forever". Ackerman went on to assure current customers that Stage Door Furniture will honor all existing orders, warranties and service agreements.

"We have reductions of up to 75% on every item in the store from such well-known suppliers as Vaughn Bassett, Berkline, Canadel, Clayton Marcus, Pulaski, Sealy and many others. Our almost acre of display showroom has over $3 million in inventory that will be sold as quickly as possible at the lowest prices in the store's history." Ackerman continued, "Every item in this multi-million dollar inventory will be sold, regardless of cost...This is a wall-to-wall total sell-off."

Details:

The Stage Door Furniture going-out-of-business total liquidation will begin on Thursday, March 24th , and will continue until all merchandise is sold. Advisors to the event will be Northbrook, Illinois based Deere Park & Associates, one of the leading consultants to the furniture industry. According to Jed Ackerman, "Deere Park & Associates was clearly the best furniture consultant in terms of reliability, integrity, professionalism, resources, and proven success. Ackerman commented on his choice of consultants by saying, "In choosing Deere Park to assist us, we wanted a consultant that would maintain the uncompromising standards and professional approach to our customers who's trust and respect we've earned over the years."
