AFP Releases 111th Congress Key Vote Scorecard

ARLINGTON, Va.—The free market grassroots group Americans for Prosperity (AFP) today released its Key Vote Scorecard for the 111th Congress to educate taxpayers on their representatives’ stand on key policy issues. The group rated the top free market votes from 2009 and 2010, 25 in the U.S. Senate and 19 in the U.S. House. AFP also included the No Climate Tax pledge in its scorecard for the first time, signifying the importance of the group’s opposition to using the climate change issue as a guise to grow government.

“The cap-and-trade, ObamaCare and stimulus votes were obviously hugely important, and garnered the most public attention, but there were numerous other votes in the 111th Congress that drew a clear distinction between lawmakers that support the free market and those who do not,” said AFP Director of Government Affairs James Valvo. “It’s vital that citizens know how their elected officials voted on these issues. Often lawmakers try to bury their most controversial votes, but AFP’s scorecard offers a quick and easy way for our activists, the media and the general public to know how lawmakers voted.”
