LEAP 2010 Summary Awards Ceremony

Presenting Endowment to Support Student Scholars

Washington, DC (MMD Newswire) August 19, 2010 -- Today, LEAP Foundation in Washington, DC presented its annual Dr. Clayton G. Lawrence Endowment for Academic Excellence scholarship to Ms. Ruby Asante in a ceremony at the U.S. Library of Congress after staff and guest were guided through a memorable tour of the White House.

"I am delighted to able to support the education of bright young people who commit themselves to excellence in their work in being a leader in the community," said LEAP's Founder and Chairman of the Board Dr. Clayton G. Lawrence. "As a student from very modest means, I relate to the high cost of pursing an education and I want to help minimize the strain it imposes on many students and families."

The endowment was created to provide worthy students scholarship and fellowship grants for the pursuit of higher education; to conduct community outreach service programs that will aid in the educational and vocational improvement in individual and community living standards; to engage in events that will promote healthy living; and to engage in any appropriate research related to the purposes of the LEAP Foundation. Please see the attached application.

Ms. Asante is a 3rd year law student at the George Washington University who is adept in the field of employment law.

"Ms. Asante exemplifies excellence in her work and a commitment to positively affecting those around her," said Dr. Lawrence. "May this award enhance her personal and professional development, and allow her to achieve her public service goals."
