“Online Kill-A-Cancer-Cell-athon” encourages 100,000 to kill 1 million cancer cells by eating anticancer foods
A Facebook event called the Online Kill-A-Cancer-Cell-athon invites 100,000 people worldwide to eat a trio of anticancer foods on Sunday, April 18th in an effort to kill one million cancer cells – and there are already close to 600 attendees.
Inspired by the book Anticancer: A New Way of Life by cancer survivor and physician Dr. David Servan-Schreiber, the Online Kill-A-Cancer-Cell-athon encourages people to adopt an anticancer lifestyle that includes eating specific foods like raspberries, spinach, and cabbage. A full list of anticancer foods can be found on the book’s website, www.anticancerbook.com.
The book details scientific research that suggests that all humans have cancer cells inside their bodies, but not all of us will develop cancer, even those who may be exposed to certain carcinogens, such as asbestos. By living an anticancer lifestyle, Dr. Servan-Schreiber believes that a person can dramatically reduce their likelihood of developing cancer. For those suffering from various types of cancer, including mesothelioma, an anticancer lifestyle can support an increased survival rate. Dr. Servan-Schreiber himself is an example – he has survived brain cancer and been in remission for almost twenty years.
For those who wish to participate and are considering adopting an anticancer lifestyle, but are not big fans of vegetables, there’s good news: dark chocolate that is at least 70% cacao and green tea are also on the list of acceptable foods.
