Blog Watch: Liberals Will Learn The Hard Way That Voters Are Different, Says The Political Prophet®
- Socio-Political Commentary -
March 21, 2010 (FinancialWire) — Editor’s Note: Socio-political events and developments have a direct impact on the market. In the interest of providing shareholders and investors with a broad spectrum of information in regard to such potentially impactful occurrences, FinancialWire(tm)’s “Bog Watch” series offers the following from “The Political Prophet®”, for those with an interest in healthcare equities, such as the Health Care Select Sector SPDR ETF (NYSE: XLV), the SPDR S&P International Health Care Sector ETF (NYSE: IRY) the First Trust Health Care AlphaDEX Fund (NYSE: FXH) and the WisdomTree International Health Care Fund ETF (NYSE: DBR).
Historically liberals have directed their appeals primarily toward voters they view as not smart, not literate and politically not interested. This point of view is the foundation for their perception that smart folks, acting through government, must manage the affairs of ordinary people. In their view of the world, this now must include government management of the doctor/patient relationship and all things medical from birth to end-of-life counseling.
Those who are wise to the way the world really works understand that management by government actually means control by government. Government control, in the real world really means political control. From the moment of enactment into law, Obamacare will function as a politically driven decision system which controls quality of life issues for millions and, for many, life itself will be preserved or ended based on criteria established according to political interests. Those who think political people will not use the power made available to them to achieve their political objectives are naïve or delusional. One has only to look at Congress to realize how utterly corrupting political power can be and yielding such power over healthcare is far more tempting than something as mundane as an automobile design or a thermostat limit.
The Political Prophet® therefore predicts… that an epic struggle will begin if Obamacare actually becomes the law of the land next week. The political battle which ensues will reshape government, the political parties, business/professional organizations, unions and thousands of other entities for decades to come.
The American electorate is not what the Administration perceives it to be. Voters who were once apathetic are now aroused. Independents who were always the last to take a position are now out in front on the issue of Obamacare, trust of government plus the latest polls show their opinions of Congress are very negative. Independents also do not respect President Obama as they once did. Large groups of citizens that may have previously ignored process issues like the awarding of favored treatment toward certain states just to bribe a Senator into supporting this legislation are now acutely aware of the unfair discrepancies involving billions of our tax dollars which will become law if Obamacare is enacted. To the extent that the Obama Administration and its allies in Congress continue to view the electorate as “not smart, not informed and too lazy to care” Democrats are quite likely to be given a dramatic lesson in political activism next November by Americans who understand, who care and who are willing to do their part to make a difference.
