Asbestos Trial Judge Considers Dismissal of Charges
The judge in the trial of W.R. Grace raises concerns over the prosecution’s evidence.
MesotheliomaCancerNews.com -- The federal judge presiding over the case of W.R. Grace and Company expressed issues with the government’s handling of the case on Monday. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), U.S. District Judge Donald Molloy stated that he did not trust key witness testimony of former executive of the company Robert Locke, and suggested the prosecution’s presentation of evidence was lacking.
The judge considered motions for dismissal of charges against the company Monday, but as noted by the AP, did not make a ruling immediately. However, he did reportedly mention the possibility that a mistrial would be declared. Molloy is quoted by the AP as asking prosecutors, “Do you want to have these jurors convict someone on perjured testimony.”
As further noted by the AP, the jury for the case was not present on Monday for the hearing, but is set to return Tuesday. News Source: http://www.mesotheliomacancernews.com - Press Release Distribution
