Asbestos-Related Suit Filed in Texas
An asbestos-related lawsuit was filed on January 26th in the Jefferson County District Court of Texas by the wife and daughters of a man who died from mesothelioma in 2006. Grace Williams, and Brenda and Caroline Williams are naming four defendant corporations as being responsible for the death of James C. Williams.
In the suit it states that Williams was employed as a laborer, and lab technician for the Goodrich Corp. in Port Neches, Gulf Oil Corp., Guide-Line, and Michelin North America Inc. from 1943 to 1989. It was during this time that his wife and daughters claim that he was exposed to the dangerous asbestos fibers that resulted in his development of mesothelioma.
Mesothelioma is only one of a number of diseases which are caused by asbestos exposure. This and other diseases that result from such exposure tend to have a significantly long latency period which limits the chances of finding effective treatment options by the time diagnosis occurs. Often victims of such diseases live for only a short time following the discovery of such a disease.
The wife and daughters of Williams are claiming that the companies named in the suit failed to warn him of the dangers of working with asbestos-containing materials.
The family of James C. Williams claims that they have had to suffer great mental anguish due to their husband and father’s untimely death. In the suit the three women are seeking exemplary and punitive damages in an unspecified amount.
