Bong Go calls for continued bayanihan as he pushes for legislative measures promoting the welfare of Filipinos

Senator Christopher "Bong" Go encouraged Filipinos to uphold the spirit of bayanihan amid the pandemic as he continues to push for measures in the Senate that will promote and protect the welfare of Filipinos during these difficult times.

Among these proposed measures are 15 local hospital bills sponsored by the senator to either improve existing or establish new Department of Health hospitals across the country. Said bills were approved on the third and final reading in the Senate on January 31.

On the same day, Senate Bill No. 2421 or the proposed COVID-19 Benefits and Allowances for Health Workers Act of 2021 was also approved by the Senate on the third reading. The bill, which was authored and co-sponsored by Go, seeks to grant healthcare workers (HCWs) additional financial support in recognition of their extraordinary contributions and sacrifices during the pandemic.

Go, however, urged the Executive Department to continue working together, particularly the health officials and government finance managers, to make sure funding sources can be made available for its proper implementation if enacted into law.

The senator also welcomed the Senate approval of SB 2420, to be known as the Marawi Siege Victims Compensation Act, which will provide internally-displaced persons compensation or reparation for houses destroyed and properties that can no longer be recovered due to the attack of Islamic State-linked terrorists in the city.

Go went on to remark that he hopes to file and support more measures as a senator to provide a more comfortable life for all Filipinos.

Despite the forthcoming national elections, Go emphasized that he and the President will remain focused on serving the Filipino people.

Finally, Go vowed to ensure the delivery to the Filipino people of vital public services, which they rightfully deserve.
