Gov. Ricketts: Protect Prayer as First Amendment Right for Nebraska Students
LINCOLN – Today, Governor Pete Ricketts issued the following statement on new guidance from President Donald J. Trump and the U.S. Department of Education on prayer in schools.
“For many families, prayer is important for the moral integrity and character development of their children,” said Gov. Ricketts. “Thank you to President Trump for strengthening safeguards that protect the religious freedom of students and families. I urge schools across the state to review this new guidance from the U.S. Department of Education, and to take steps to protect the First Amendment rights of our students to express their faith.”
