4. Fill out the necessary paperwork

It is probably a good idea to transfer the title over to the scrapyard you are selling to, as this is how the car is legally transferred to another owner meaning that you would no longer be liable for the vehicle. This is not always necessary, but is usually the safest plan. In addition to this, notify the DMV and also cancel your car’s insurance. Let them know that this car will is no longer in service.
