Charleston, W.Va. — Tucker County led in new business growth percentage for June 2019 with a total of seven new businesses, according to West Virginia Secretary of State Mac Warner.

That equates to a 1.78 percent growth for Tucker County. The Secretary of State’s Business & Licensing Division reported that Doddridge, Hardy, McDowell and Mingo counties also had notable growth in the month of June.

“The Mountain State is seeing steady growth in new business startups every day,” Warner said. “This is significant to the development of our economy.”

The number of business entities in Tucker County grew from 337 to 343, with Doddridge County business entities increasing from 190 to 193. Hardy County experienced an increase in new business registrations from 495 to 502 and McDowell County went from 370 to 374 for the month of June.

Statewide, West Virginia saw a 13.01 percent growth in business registrations in the previous 12-month period. The growth in that 12-month period was led by Summers County with 17.89 percent growth. To review the county-by-county growth, visit our Business Statistics Database.
