Proceeds From Auto Raffle to be Donated to Steeplechase Cancer Center
BRIDGEWATER, NEW JERSEY, UNITED STATES, September 26, 2018 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The Open Road Auto Group (https://www.openroad.com/) will once again be sponsoring the Far Hills Race Meeting, more commonly known as the Far Hills Steeplechase, set for Saturday, October 20 at Moorland Farm. This will be the 28th year Open Road will be a major sponsor of the event, and the company will raffle off a 2019 Mercedes Benz CLA250 C4 which has been donated for the event. The proceeds will benefit the Somerset Health Care Foundation in support of Robert Wood Johnson Somerset.
What is new this year will be the ability to bet on the races. The seven-race card offers $850,000 in gross purses, the highest dollar value of any sanctioned steeplechase meeting in North America. The highlight will be the $450,000 Grand National, steeplechasing’s richest race In North America that annually draws the best horses in training both here and from Europe.

The addition of legal wagering will no doubt assist the race committee attain its stated goals of $1 million in purses and a $500,000 Grand National in time for the 100th running of the race meeting in 2020. In compliance with New Jersey law, the Far Hills meeting will be operated using Monmouth Park's pari-mutuel license. The racing and wagering will be supervised by the New Jersey Racing Commission.
