Angola to resume training CAR's police effectives

The matter was analysed last Thursday, in Luanda, in a meeting between the Angolan President, João Lourenço, and his Central African Republic (CAR) counterpart, Faustin Touadéra, in the ambit of a visit of some hours of the latter to Angola.
In the end of the gathering, the Angolan minister of Foreign Affairs, Manuel Augusto, spoke to the press about the results of the meeting and disclosed that the two presidents also analysed the possibility of the resumption of the Angolan Airlines (TAAG)’s flights to the city of Bangui (CAR).
TAAG’s flights to Bangui have been suspended following the rise in socio-political instability in that country.
According to Manuel Augusto, the two presidents seized the occasion to exchange impressions on the current political and security situation in CAR, characterised by attacks perpetrated by antagonistic opposition groups.
While acting as the chair of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) – a regional organisation of which both countries are members – Angola followed up closely the political and security situation in the Central African Republic (CAR).
Faustin Touadéra, arrived in Luanda on Thursday morning.
In October 2016, Angola and Car signed a Revised General Co-operation Agreement and a Political Memorandum.
