Angola wants meet CPLP presidency expectations

Sal Island, ANGOLA, July 19 - Angola guaranteed, Wednesday, on the Island of Sal (Cape Verde) to prepare properly to to take on the rotating presidency of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries in 2020.,

According to the Angolan Foreign Minister, Manuel Augusto, the country must mobilize itself  to imprint the dynamics that are expected for the strengthening of the CPLP.

Augusto spoke to the press shortly after announcing that the next summit, XIII, of Heads of State and Government of the CPLP in Angola in 2020, and the consequent assumption of the rotating presidency of the organization for two years, will be held.

Angop has learned that Angola was proposed due to the withdrawal of Equatorial Guinea.

The Foreign Minister explained that Angola has been persuaded and that the President of the Republic accepted the challenge with sense of duty.

Manuel Augusto believes that the indication had as background the dynamics that the government and the President of Angola have been showing at the international level.

He stated that the issue of mobility in the CPLP is complex but at the same time decisive for the community to develop common projects.

The head of the Angolan diplomacy spoke of the need to assure the youth that the community space can be of affirmation, liberation of valences and resourcefulness.

He referred to legal constraints that limit mobility, as the case of Portugal being in the Shengen area, which may affect reciprocity with other countries in the community.

For him, mobility is one of the challenges that the countries of the community are willing to overcome.
