Governor defends greater investment in South region
Lubango, ANGOLA, July 14 - The need for more investment in projects that can mitigate the effects of drought in the south of the country was defended on Friday in the city of Lubango by the governor of Huíla, Marcelino Tyipinge.,
According to the provincial governor who was speaking at the seventh regular meeting of the Economic Commission of the Council of Ministers, headed by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, the main wealth of the southern population is the cattle.
For Marcelino Tyipinge, the measures that have been taken by the inter-ministerial committee on drought, created two years ago, prove to be insufficient.
In its view, the southern region needs more consistent measures which include the rehabilitation and construction of rainwater retention dams.
On the other hand, the official said that the lack of regular supply of vaccines for livestock constitutes also constraint for the Huíla province.
